Flash slots: a price that lives for minutes and a purchaser who arrives later

A flash slot is a time window and a small stock. CNFans buys when your order reaches a purchaser, so the window has usually closed by then. Here is how the slots work and what to ask first.

Flash slots and the minute they open

A 秒杀 (literally “seconds-kill”) is a slot in which a small stock sells at a price far below the usual one. Slots usually open on the hour, 整点, and the listing advertises the opening in advance: a grey button reading 即将开抢 (opening soon), a countdown to the start, and the slot price shown beside the ordinary one. When the minute arrives the button turns live, buyers who were waiting tap at once, and the counter swings to 已抢光 (all snapped up) once the slot stock is gone.

Taobao also runs flash selling as a channel of its own. Its rules for a 2026 holiday sale list 淘宝秒杀 among the campaigns whose items could not join that event at the same time (holiday sale rules, 17 April 2026). For a buyer the channel and a shop's own slot look alike: a time, a small quantity and a price that only exists inside the window.

How the platform sets the hour

Platform-wide sales follow the same pattern on a larger scale. Taobao's rules for its 2024 flash-sale festival (festival rules, 10 April 2024) set a warm-up from midnight until 20:00 Beijing time on the first day, with the official sale starting at 20:00 and running for several days after. Sellers could not register items in the two hours before the start or the ninety minutes after it.

During the warm-up the listing shows what is coming but sells at the old terms. At the start the event price applies, and the rules restrict edits to the listed price, and any rise in the event price, of registered items for a set period. For an agent order that means a link pasted during the warm-up shows a price the purchaser cannot buy at until the hour; a link pasted at 20:05 may already be too late for the scarcest items.

The purchaser's clock against the slot

The archived CNFans home page of 23 August 2026 described handing a product link and order to its team. It did not publish purchasing hours, a minute-specific buying commitment or flash-sale support. A short window can close before an agent attempts purchase, but this site has not measured the queue or verified a buying schedule. Confirm whether the agent can attempt this release and what happens if it cannot.

That is not negligence; it is what buying for thousands of customers looks like. It does mean a flash price is a lottery ticket at best when an agent buys. Tell the purchaser what to do if the slot has gone, and assume the ordinary price is the one you will meet unless the agent confirms otherwise before you pay.

Stock held at order, or only at payment

On Taobao placing an order, 拍下, and paying for it, 付款, are separate steps. The platform's timeout rules (2 January 2026) close an ordinary unpaid order automatically 24 hours after it is placed. Orders through the Juhuasuan group-buy channel close after 30 minutes unpaid, and some categories have shorter or event-specific limits.

Do not infer a stock reservation from an agent payment or a visible counter. A marketplace may apply its own reservation and payment rules, and a purchase can still be cancelled. Ask whether the exact option has been purchased and retain the order status rather than treating a slot as secured.

Rush-buying tools are banned goods on Taobao

Programs and services that promise to win flash slots are themselves forbidden merchandise on Taobao. The prohibited listings rules (19 June 2026) name “software or services used to raise the chance of success in rush purchases and disturb Taobao's normal order” and penalise each listing of them with 12 points of the platform's most serious class.

This site does not describe, link or rate any such tool, and no agent can honestly promise a flash slot either. The fair expectation is that a purchaser opens the listing when your order is reached and buys at whatever terms it shows then. If a slot price matters to you more than the item does, the agent route is the wrong route for that particular listing.

A note to send with a flash order

A short note saves a round of messages and a disappointed refund. Write it in plain sentences the purchaser can act on without asking you:

  • Say that the price you saw was a flash slot, and give the hour it opened if the listing showed it.
  • Say whether to buy at the ordinary price if the slot has gone, and up to what amount.
  • Say whether a different colour or size is acceptable if your option has sold out.
  • Ask the agent to confirm the price paid to the seller once the purchase is made.

If the answer comes back that flash slots cannot be targeted, believe it and decide on the ordinary price alone.
